This school is phenomenal....my son transferred to this school after I experienced problems with another elementary school in the area...The Principal is supportive and always looks at different ways she can make a difference through implementing new programs that are beneficial to the children,...which I would have sent my son here two years sooner

Tomah Middle School steadily gets worse each year. My kid loved going to school till she started middle school. They have the most ridiculous rules and each year they add even more ridiculous rules. Prisoners have more freedom than these kids. My daughter has had multiple uti’s when they changed the bathroom rules last year. You have teachers that bully students. The sub teachers are even worse. The vice principal is the worst. My kid begs me everyday to send her to Sparta or homeschool. They are literally more worried about school attendance and controlling every little thing these kids do than they are about actually teaching these kids and making learning fun. Since starting school there my daughter has had neck pains and migraines because all they do is work out of the Chromebooks. They want these kids to be responsible but refuse to give them choices or opportunities to be responsible or teach responsibility. These kids get burned out and they don’t care. The school is always cold in the winter and hot in warmer months. They won’t let them wear gloves or coats in the classrooms so my daughter has to layer up and take hot packs to stay warm in the winter. It never use to be like this. My other daughter went when they had a different principal and it was a great school back then. The elementary schools and high school are great. The elementary schools have more freedom than the middle school.

I have had one student graduate from Tomah High School and her time there was horrible. The bullying was bad. There was a few good teachers but most of the other teachers just turned their backs on the bullying and some were the bullies. Now I have another student in the school and the bullying is not as bad but there is a group of mean girls in the school that like to make fun of students who they think don’t fit their “norm” so they make fun of them in class. Most teachers won’t do a thing and some are the bullies. You have teachers who like to yell in kids faces and cuss at the students. They did just hire a new principal and things are definitely better with him. The school district needs to realize they need to give these kids longer breaks because the kids get burned out as do teachers. This school year the kids school breaks are very little and I foresee a huge burnout all around. The school district worries more about attendance and test scores than they do about their students or teachers. Tomah has the ability to be a great school district if they would focus more on students and teachers than attendance and test scores. As far as high schools Tomah high school is the better high school in Monroe County. Most of the surrounding High schools are far worse.
