Description

There's been blood, lots of sweat, and definitely tears from this home's restoration that took several years. And why did it take several years, you might ask? Because a 132 year old home can really take one to task! You've heard the phrase 'Rome wasn't built in a day'. And 'slow and steady wins the race' you might say. Well, the race is finally over and this house clearly won. And you'll soon find that it's truly second to none. Let's just say this ain't some amateur flip production, this is pure, heart swooning, old home seduction! It's as good as it gets for a true old home lover. A nearly perfect restoration is yours to discover. All original woodwork with varnish just gleaming framing plentiful windows with sunlight beaming into all of the rooms that are so generously sized where you'll find no expense or quality compromised. With 10 foot high ceilings, every room feels grand along with much detail in the trim carved by hand. There's large pocket doors that still roll along tracks from an era when there was a reviled closet tax. An original gas light fixture adorns a formal entry highlighting a foyer space that's so complementary. Venerable pine hardwoods adorn the main floor and vintage hardware that'll make your heart soar. You'll find this home's beauty goes beyond skin deep, there's all new mechanicals too and they weren't cheap! Plus there's transoms, corbels, and more fenestration that's impossible to escape your deep admiration. A home from the 19th century is indeed a rare find, let alone a home so preserved like this one of a kind. A testament to the builder whose labor well endures and now this exemplary home is ready to be yours. See it today and you'll appreciate all of it's past with the peace of mind that it's restored to LAST!The marketing description was NOT written by AI and you will likely find this home to be among the finest 100+ year old houses you'll ever see in Springfield, MO. • Jade Coatney
"Dog owners like that a lot of the houses have yards with fences to let their dogs out and there are sidewalks for walks. "
  • Sue K.
"I am so happy with all the downtown growth and fun things to do, all within walking distance of this charming home! I’ve lived in the neighborhood in the past and also stayed in this home. Its cozy feel is welcoming. My favorite feature is the porch! It’s especially wonderful to enjoy when it’s raining. "
  • Adie Gateley
"I love this neighborhood! You get to know your neighbors as friends and it has a very small town feel. I am really excited for the new Grant Street revitalization project to add a coffee shop and food truck park just a block down the street. We love our little neighborhood! "
  • Trulia User
"There are a lot of areas to walk your pets in. Many areas are covered in grass with several parks and schools if your pet doesn't get along with children you would need to avoid them. Bring a plastic bag for pet waste.because neighborhood requires you pick up your pets waste and throw it away. "
  • Tlog.aaurielaurora
"I have lived here for three years and this property has gone through several different owners and managers. There is a lot of crime in the area, the garbage is overflowing with used furniture, and it is difficult to get anyone to return my call on maintenance requests or anything else for that matter. "
  • Trulia User
"Nothing really is unique about this area besides being close to downtown! There’s some cute little shops around the area "
  • Mallory M.
"If you work downtown or attend classes on MSU campus, west central is very accessible. Walking, about 10-15 minutes to either location, but it does not always feel safe to do so. There are plenty of bus stops, and the Bear Line stops nearby as well. "
  • Robert P.
"Not horrible for dogs but also not the best. You'll notice a lot of strays running around. Many people just leave their dogs out all day and night in the backyard. Lots of barking all day everyday."
  • Clarence M.
"Meth addicts and homeless rummage through your trash daily. Raccoons under your car in the early morning. Loud neighbors. The place can be a dump. "
  • Elisabeth d.
"This neighborhood is scary. There is a trap house 4 doors down from where I used to live and crime all around you. Don’t chance it."
  • Clarence M.
"It can be sketchy at night. Enticing during the day. Sometimes you see hookers, meth addicts searching your trash, or police at a crime scene. On good days you see a lot of good traffic, and people out having fun. "
  • Loyalone424
"I love the character in the houses that’s why I love the area. What I would like to see happen is that people would invest in the old homes. Like work together with neighbors and request help from the city government to bring north grant back because many of these homes still have good bones! "
  • Donna L.
"three blocks from elementary and my son has been walking to school everyday for two years. no one bothers him pretty quite on our street"
  • Erin
"I've lived in the West Central neighborhood almost two years now. It has it's charm, but also has some serious issues. I love that it's cheap, most of the houses are older and have some real charm. The downside is that it's a little volatile. I'd love to be able to go a month without police being called to my street in the middle of the night, or not find needles on the sidewalk when I walk my dogs, but sadly there are a few nefarious individuals that drag the community down. However, for the most part it's a very charming place. The neighbors lookout for each other without being nosy and I plan on staying here until I move out of Springfield. "
  • Adiegateley
"I've lived here for several years now...I love this street, there are many hard working families and homes that are stabilizing the neighborhood...its well within walking and biking distance from downtown coffee shops, theaters, universities, hospitals, the DMV and other government offices, art galleries, unique restaurants, botiques, flea markets, the ice rink, and brewing companies...its a great community to live in where people know your name and say hi! adie"
