6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school never has their stuff together and had no respect for other peoples time. If you want a well organized school Jacksonville High is NOT the school you want your student to attend. Always does things last minute and never cares about how their last minute decisions affect the parents and students that go to this school. If they really did care for their students their stuff would be together and they wouldn’t have to scramble around last minute to do things last minute. This is ridiculous that parents and STUDENTS from this school have to tell the admin how to handle situations. 0/10 i do not recommend this school for any parents in the Onslow County Area.Student Review9mo ago7 Reviews - Jacksonville Commons Elementary

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI tried so hard for this school to be a positive experience for my kindergartener and 4th grader when we moved here summer 2023. My 4th grader was ahead and loved math at the beginning of the year and at the end of the year he was emotionally drained, teacher used him as a helper to help other students who didn’t know how to read. He learned very little that year. My kindergartener had gone to two years of private preschool and knew how to write letters and numbers properly and was on her way to reading. She lost those abilities, never learned to read. She learned how to throw a huge fit, she learned to swear and scream when she was angry. I tried volunteering in both kids classrooms, I offered to come daily. I don’t think the teachers wanted me there to see first hand how bad it was. I met with the vice principal and principal multiple times. Had my youngest switched from one classroom to another. That helped slightly but not nearly enough to justify sending them there for another year. The single biggest issue at this school is how admin has chosen to handle discipline. When other children misbehave they are pulled out of the class and taken to a counselor or principal and allowed to calm down, given a drink or a snack. They are not given a consequence and there is no reason to change the behavior, in fact I would say it’s encouraged. The kids who behave and are there to learn go unnoticed, fall through the cracks, and ultimately lose their love for learning. It’s very sad.Parent Review11mo ago12 Reviews - Jacksonville Commons Middle

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy child has been to 5 different districts in 3 different states and this school has been the worst one attended, BY FAR. -- 1. The majority of the teachers do not teach or engage; they expect the children to use the online programs to teach themselves while the teachers text on their phones. The ones that do try and teach are so caught up trying to counter students' awful behavior, the students that are there to learn get forgotten about. 2. Administration addresses NOTHING of actual concern. After countless contact with administration about a teacher harassing my child, I was finally able to get the situation dealt with after threatening to press criminal charges and drag every administrator down into it with the teacher. 3. Administration punishes students for advocating for themselves when situations are ignored over and over. If the teacher doesn't handle a situation, then an administrator doesn't handle a situation, what are students supposed to do? -- Obviously all children are not interested or excited about school, but there are children that are. School should be a safe place to go, an escape, somewhere inviting, what ever a child needs it to be. This school falls short in every way possible. How a school becomes filled with adults in charge who don't care about bettering a child, who don't care about even moving in a better direction, is mind blowing.Parent Review1mo ago21 Reviews - Check out schools near 1006 Ormandy Ave.

"The County fair and Mikes Farm seasonal events. Besides that this area is only good for fishing, tattoos and strip clubs."

"The schools are close by and there are so many activities hosted by the staff at Hunter Creek Elementary School throughout the year. This community really shows up to support the kids. The Farm at Hunters Creek has been great to our family. "

"This is a very nice area with very friendly people and plenty to do, particularly if you like the outdoor. One of my favorite place to take long walks is Richard Ray Park"

"Schools are dangerous. Literally can risk burying your child by sending them to public school. If you don't own a car you're out of luck. And if your not military or a native and wealthy with farm land your garbage and no one cares "

"It’s shocking seeing rent become so high in certain neighborhoods in Jacksonville. I have never in a million years thought I’d see duplexes in New River going for $1100! And Town Center apartments being over $1300 a month! That is ridiculous. Rentals in that area were between 550-700. That is so sad."

"It’s mind blowing to see Jacksonville’s rent prices skyrocket. Duplexes surrounding the New River neighborhood use to be 595-700 a month and now they are in the high 900’s and 1,000’s. That is so sad. I never thought I’d see the day where rentals on Starling St and York St and other streets are 1000-1200. That is RIDICULOUS for that area."

"A lot of people walk their dogs around here. Everyone is friendly and a lot of the dogs are too. We do have a few neighbors whose dogs bark all the time and it’s a night squeaky bark but that’s not too bad."

"I'm not aware of community events besides Halloween but the people are friendly and there is a few schools very close to the actual neighborhood. I have never had any issues living here and it has been a very safe environment so far from the time that I have lived here. I am very happy with everything except the roads which are bumpy and some potholes. These items get taken care of throughout the year."

"The roads are clutter free when utilizing roads away from entry and exit points from Camp Lejeune. I would use an app to navigate roads during peak traffic periods. Jacksonville has smooth roads inside the heart of the city. I would only use mass transit in this town if I was not in a rush. "
