Our kids love going to Tascosa High School! The teachers make a strong effort to connect with the students, and my children each have clicked with a teacher mentor who have helped guide them in decisions that are important for their current and future growth and success. Par excellence is the only way to describe their orchestra and band programs, which includes a wonderful Christmas dinner concert for families and friends that is highly entertaining and memorable. As far as academics, the teachers have pushed our kids to do their very best. We have appreciated the administration and staff's flexibility and help with the kids' schedules to ensure they are able to take all the courses they require for their future studies and college applications. Also, the Tascosa Rebel football team are #1 in the state this year! It is such a diverse student body, we have seen that most students find their people and place at THS.

There are systemic racism issues at this school. My child is targeted due to the color of her skin for both behavioral issues and academic concerns. Students have made racist comments about her skin color and have had very minor consequences, while my child was given a severe consequence after being sexually harassed. My child was called numerous slurs and I was never once contacted. I was told at the district office that if it was handled the same day they wouldn't "need" to call and tell me about it. I went to the principal on three separate occasions this year and nothing ever changed, nothing was ever done. Complained about how the teachers were and how they seemingly did not care and instead my concerns were brushed off and my child paid dearly for that neglect. My child was bullied by several different children yet when they tried reporting what was happening they were brushed off and ignored. Nothing was done to protect my child or to help mediate any of these issues. Instead everything is swept under the rug to maintain the perfect school image. Instead of trying to help my child succeed the teachers wanted to blame it on a learning disability that they clearly did not have. Once they passed the evaluation (average to above average) they seemed surprised even though the diagnostician said she knew how brilliant my child was within minutes of meeting them and even went as far as to pivot to my child had ADHD after. So many student that had the same teacher as my child the year before all were behind yet instead of looking into that they had several of the students tested for learning disabilities. At the end of the day I blame the principal for fostering this type of environment and allowing the teachers to operate with the level of disrespect and blatant favoritism and neglect.

It's petty excellent to be honest. I would recommend this school to people nearby.
