Teachers don't even know how to properly teach, they just give out tests and expects the students to know all the content. Student body is horrible, can't even focus on class because of the environment. School fights happen here weekly, so don't act surprised when you hear a student being sent to the hospital.

I have mixed feelings about this school... Other schools may be worse, so you may want to attend this one, but this is stopping being good school...Couple of things are very problematic:1) Bullying is attended. My kid doesn't have any problems, but he keeps telling me about bunch of girls teasing couple of boys that they smell bad, they have old clothes and that "they will never get a girl because they look like that."2) One of those kids that was constantly bullying last 2 years is now actually main bully in the class, often hitting or pushing other kids. Again, my kid generally doesn't have a problem, but it's just matter of time before he does...3) Principal is DOE employee, doing what's best for DoE, not what's best for school or kids. Previous principal was very, very hard woman, I can't say I liked her, but she somehow got school extension built, new classrooms, etc. During her tenure, there was usually 19-21 kids in class. And main emphasis was on education. Also, that lady spent most of her career in PS174, first as a teacher, then as a principal.New principal: half of the previously built classrooms are empty, because there are not enough teachers. There is 30+ kids in class, with only 1 teacher present. She installed unhealthy snacks vending machine to collect money for school, which I think it is just horrible:a) Some kids don't have that money, and they got picked on for being poorb) Unhealthy snacks shouldn't be easily obtainable in school. Fruits, something decent, make sense, cheap snacks, better not.Also, new principal is more of "fun and socialize" than actual education. She cut number of classes this year, again, as DOE employee, not as principal caring about school or kids. And not sure about her background, I don't thinks he was ever actually teaching kids.Now, teachers are good. Trying their best to manage 30 little kids in confined space... That's the only good thing remaining there.As said, other schools may be worse, IDK. So, this school may be a good choice, but it's feeling like it's free-falling for last 2 years without any signs of stopping...

My son constantly gets bullied, he witnesses fights, he’s been physically bullied, he HATES going to school I can’t even get him the same kind of help he had in his other schools. He’s afraid to get yelled at by his teacher, his confidence is low because of the way he gets treated. I shouldn’t have to fight to get him to go to school in the morning some days it literally makes him sick at times. The kids still use their cell phones during school hours as well.
