NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageDover High serves many students from different backgrounds and abilities. The school re-opened in a brand new building just a few years ago, where today's students benefit from major leaps in classroom technology, beautiful athletic facilities, and a wonderful new theater. A few highlights:- The Career Technical Center offers students the opportunity to earn credits and advanced degrees in a variety of vocations including: culinary arts, cosmetology, nursing, automotive technology, welding, early childhood education, ROTC, fire science, and more!- Dover is a model for other schools in the state for its Special Education and Unified Sports programs. Students of all abilities can play and learn together through soccer, volleyball, bowling, P.E. class, and more. The school is well-known for it's outstanding Special Education programming and community support for Special Olympics.- Academically, I graduated well-prepared for my Ivy League college courses on the same playing field as my private school peers. As a student, I felt incredibly supported by all my teachers and the faculty at Dover. Unfortunately the school falls victim to teachers leaving for other neighboring districts with higher pay (something I hope they will course correct for asap), but those who've stayed truly 'bleed green'...many are DHS alumni themselves who couldn't imagine teaching anywhere else. I am grateful to Dover High for the opportunity to learn alongside students from all different backgrounds and from dedicated teachers committed to my success. I would enthusiastically send my children here versus the local private schools any day!Other Review4y ago11 Reviews - Dover Middle School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI am a past student who has recently graduated from DMS and I am not going to look back on it with rose tinted glasses. Well start off with learning, I was someone who always had good grades if given the ability to and it was fine but it was always very uninteresting at times and I found it hard to actually get into it. They also had a thing called “learning academy” instead of study hall so I had no free time to catch up on work and had to sit through a class where I learned nothing and provided me with nothing but cons not a single pro to it. On to teaching, the teachers are alright. There are a lot more bad apples in the bunch than you would think though. I had one (not saying the name) who could not teach a whole class. She would’ve worked better in small groups but could not do the whole class. The grading system is horrid. Half the teachers don’t understand and it’s obvious they only did it because now it doesn’t sound like you’re failing. Social-emotional support could be good now but in my experience the guidance counselor who was there the whole except for my last year did not help. She would’ve worked better tell parents anything and everything that happened even if it wasn’t dangerous and proved that she couldn’t be trusted by students so nobody went to her bottled it up because they knew they couldn’t trust her. The one my last year was amazing though. <3 you Dr. Breualt! Special education I gave 4 because I have no experience with but the teachers seem amazing and supportive whenever they bring the kids into the classes. Safety could be better. I was there in 6th and there was a bomb threat on the school. They got everyone out quickly so that’s good but originally they didn’t tell parents the truth until a few hours later. There was also a girl who jumped on and attacked another girl. She was promptly held down and put in handcuffs by the resources officer. They do alright in family engagement by having constant things for families to go to.Other Review8mo ago16 Reviews - Check out schools near 10 Progress Dr.

"Dog friendly area. Many have dogs. Nice side walks to use for walks and everyone is respectful. There is even a paved rail trail in the neighborhood. "

"We love it here in Dover. Very kid and animal friendly. Lots of community events. Great restaurants. Very walkable downtown area. Lovely shops. The downtown is always decorated and has nice florals around. We love it here! Only complaint is the meter maid for street parking "

"I'm looking to relocate to Dover,I've lived there and visited family who live there,I walk my dog alot around the parks and streets downtown and everyone is so kind, alot of dogs and poop bag available all over for easy clean up. You see water bowls out random businesses for public dog walkers, very friendly I've met and spoke to so many dog walkers,it's uplifting to see all the breeds and you can tell there owners are proud and show there love for there best friends.woof woof"

"Not a place for people without a car if you have children. No daycare buses to pick up your children, public transportation only stops at certain stops (it’s not a push stop thing like other places), and it’s difficult to get a taxi, Uber, or Lyft. They do have CAP that helps the underprivileged with food, rent, & utilities but don’t move here without a car!"

"It can a lot more time than it should to drive through town, even on weekdays when people should be at work. It has become far too congested for my liking. It has more of a city vibe now than it used to."
