As a former alum from decades ago, VHS is significantly lacking in teacher professionalism. Multiple teachers were toeing the line with students, and far too engaged with politics of the student body. The culture of the school is soured, and the teaching body is to blame for it. There needs to be more outside hires, and less former students being onboarded to the staff that perpetuate the same systemic problems that the school cannot outgrow. I would be much more inclined to send my child to North, or bus them to Hunterdon Central before I would subject them to the subpar VHS school system. For such a solvent school and wealthy taxpayer base, I'd expect better management of the system. My advice is to not send your children to Voorhees.

Very limited resources make the quality of the school poor. They don’t have a gym teacher so academic teacher’s substitute. They did not find replacements for teachers on leave so often special classes are not held. The student to teacher ratio is an issue with one class having an estimated 33 students in one class.

High Bridge Elementary is under rated. Because of some recent state funding, the town offers a PUBLIC PreK progam for HB residents for 3 AND 4 yr olds. The ratio of teachers to kids is great and my kid gets a fully enriched educational experience before Kindergarden. (I do believe the goal is to bring up test scores and nip any early developmental challenges in the bud.)GENERALLY my kids come home and always talk about the interesting things they learned in class and seem to enjoy school.My children thus far have not complained about bullying and have blossoming friendships. My children's homework mainly consists of reading books for 30 mins nightly.I think HB does a good job of educating our kids but also still just lets them be kids without over valuing academic achievement. They have a really good balance.The one strange thing that was appoved for the 2022 school year was there was only one nurse to service both the elementary school and middle school (since the buildings are sort of close in proximity). However, most parents were not happy knowing there wasnt a nurse close by. I am not sure how this is resolved for 2023.
