***This is a friendly advice to Black families. Don't put your kids through this high school. They will beat them down***This is not your typical city high school. It's run like a 60's small town high school in a predominantly White and extremely conservative Alabama community, with nearly all White teachers and coaches. It's those schools where the security officer is Black and maybe a substitute teacher here and there or a janitor. That's as much diversity they can allow on staff.We live in White Township. That's the real name of the municipality and school board is all White , except one Black lady who has no decision power, being one of the very few, if not the only democrat on the board. We reported discrimination against a child to this board and they didn't even respond to us, let alone address it. We're thinking about selling our house and moving our family out of this town to protect our Black children from the way they're treated by some in class and sports. Most teachers are good, but the bad ones are really bad and openly so and the school administration protects them and will do nothing to stop racism and discrimination from these bad apples. They run sports like a family business, with influential local businessmen treating teams like their own property and imposing their will on Coaches in every sports, from Basketball to football, limiting opportunities for talented minority athletes, in terms of mentorship and opportunity and have zero tolerance for them. They seek excuses to lash out and punish, instead of mentor, in class and on the court because they know they can get away with it under the current extremely conservative leadership that enables this behavior. If your child is in sports, find a different school in Pittsburgh or any city. Our child was mistreated and treated very unfairly by a Coach despite skills. The school did nothing about it after we complained, so the Coach continued retaliating, openly, even in front of us to show us what happens when we dare to complain about discrimination. He dismisses as if the child is not a person or on the team, as he grooms less skilled White athletes. He makes promises to her to change during feedback time to get her to give him a good evaluation, then go right back at mistreating her. The school leadership and district leaders protect their own against Bkack children, despite knowing about the discriminatory treatment of minority students and athletes.This is real life experience.

This school is overall really wonderful unless you have a child with mental illness issues. The guidance councilor has a habit of overstepping her boundaries and trying to misdiagnose children which she is not qualified to do anyways.
