There aren’t a ton of sidewalks for walking but the streets are safe enough with plenty of shoulder. A day does not go by that I don’t see someone walking their dog in my neighborhood. It is definitely very dog friendly. "

    " There are beautiful parts to Coram, and parts that need more attention. Anyone moving here needs to research which part they are moving to. But my town is diverse, with many family owned businesses, close commutes for hospital workers like myself (there are 3 within 15 mins of me) very close to the LIE (the main local expressway) many restaurants, bakeries, etc. but without a car, there are buses, but they don’t run on Sunday’s or in the evenings and rarely come. Basically, you should not come if you cannot drive. The cost of living is still New York prices. And chances are, if you see a house under 400,000 here, it’s in the area that is not reputable. The schools offer many extra activities, with great libraries. And being dead center of the island, it’s a twenty minute drive to either shore. I recommend the north shore for sunsets!"
