4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOmg!! Finally me and my nine year-old have found a real School. Where are the teacher care? They help your kids all of the staff from the Dean… to the lady in the office the nurses psychiatrist everyone even the janitor speaks to you and say hello very friendly normal people like I remember when I went to school 30 years ago.. my son has traveled too many schools about five or more and I’m pleased to say this School is a really nice school. Kids will be kids however it really helps when you have caring people who teach your kids every day.. And my son say they have skilled teachers lol and he loves all of his teachers.Parent Review1mo ago9 Reviews - Northwestern High School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageNW is an average school but has the potential to be great. The majority teachers try there best to educate the students. Many teachers not only teach, they act as parent figures, help students financially, donate clothing, and encourage emotionally challenged students. The major issue I found however, as a former teacher/staff member, teachers cannot teach because they are too busy disciplining. A teacher has to call security, then it takes about 30 minutes of class time to settle the students and write an incident report, wasting valuable lesson time. Additionally, there are little to no consequences for students that act out and fight in the classroom. Students may get suspended for a day or two for there actions but laugh it off as a few days vacation. Many teachers endure disrespectful swearing, and some are scared and intimidated. Many kids walk the hallways with sagging pants disrupting other class rooms. I believe the leadership at NW truly means well, however there is a serious disciplinary problem that needs to be fixed. Some security at the school are more like friends with the students instead of disciplinarians. Fix this problem and this school will be great.Other Review13y ago9 Reviews - Check out schools near Second.

"Campus Martius is in walking distance where you can ice skate in the winter and play basketball in the summer. There are great restaurants like Townhouse Detroit with a beautiful atmosphere and great food. Hart plaza holds the Movement and Jazz festival in the summer. There’s something for everyone!"

"I live near Campus Martius and Beacon Park. These parks have several seasonal events throughout the year. Of course, in the winter there aren’t as many due to the cold. However, the ice skating rink at Campus Martius is a daily activity available for locals during the winter months. "

"I drive, parking downtown is expensive and availability is poor. Traffic has become worse over the last two years. On nights when there are events on parking is bad"
