4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy family moved to New Haven over the Summer of 2023. We have two children and one of them attends New Haven Elementary. Prior to the move, our children attended school in the Lanse Creuse school district. The elementary school is located in a well maintained subdivision. The school in my opinion is large for an elementary school. It is extremely clean inside and we'll maintained on the outside. All of the staff that we have met, have been extremely helpful. I love that the staff takes the time to get to know the students and communicates with parents. The only issue I have is that they are short - staffed with bus drivers. If your bus driver is sick, you will receive a text from the school informing you that you will need to drop/pick-up your student.I personally love our bus driver. She takes the time to personally text the parents of the students on her route, the night before if she is sick. This way we are not waiting at the bus stop or trying to scramble the day of to get our students to school.Parent Review2y ago30 Reviews - New Haven High School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy husband and I purchased a home in New Haven over the Summer. Our two boys previously school through the Lanse Creuse District. Since Lanse Creuse is known for being a good district, we were a little hesitant transferring them to New Haven. My oldest son has a learning disability and has an IEP in place. I was nervous about bringing him to a new school where he had no friends and that the teachers didn't know him. At his former High school, it felt like he was just a number. After covid, the school switched to the use of a Chromebook and I noticed a significant decline in my son's grades. One of his disabilities is ADHD and he was easily distracted with the use of a computer. I expressed this concern at his IEP meeting but was brushed aside. I never felt heard.I can honestly say that transferring my student to New Haven High, has been the best thing for him. At his first IEP meeting, I was introduced to a few teachers, Assistant Principal and Caseworker. They were all so nice and inviting. They actually listened to what I had to say. My son told his Geometry teacher "Thank you for actually taking the time to teach me. I don't feel like a number in your class." Since my son started school here, his grades have improved, he enjoys attending and I have noticed an improvement in his mood. This school may not have a ton of funding, however they have teachers that truly care about your kids and their future. They will challenge your child academically and to personally do their best.I recommend this school and personally can't say enough good things about it.Parent Review2y ago13 Reviews - Lake Huron Virtual & Hybrid High School

"I’ve lived here for 20 years and grew up here. People are friendly and it’s a Safe place to live, there are not any serious crimes even though it’s a good Size city now. The city has grown to have a good amount of shopping and many popular restaurants right down the street. It is closer to a nice outdoor mall when you need to go to other stores. Schools have been good while my children were there, they all attended Anchor Bay. There are also several close by colleges within commuting distance so you don’t have to pay for dorms. "

"It’s a subdivision but the county plows our streets and we have no HOA fees. We don’t have any street lights but 50% of the home owners keep there outside lights on."

"lots of families here so any kid growing up here would have no problem finding other children to be friends with. safe quiet community with quick access to the water and charming towns even if chesterfield itself is fairly bland boilerplate suburbia."

"No sidewalks leaves it hard to walk safely. Some homeowners use the underground fencing so their dogs are out front and run towards you barking which can be very frightening. "

"It’s a great place to live. The neighbors are super helpful and friendly. We have Saturday night card parties, cook outs and shared rides to events, such a dinner, bowling, etc. We help each other with snow removal. It’s just a super night community in which to live."

"My commute to work is very long. I work in Troy and I spend at least 2 hours in the car. The winter is the worst though. When it snows it's at least an hour and a half to two hour drive one way. I take 59 and the construction is terrible. Everywhere you go traffic is backed up because they are working in the roads. I would actually love to find a job closer to my home because we do like the area. "

"not great transportation accessible any way off 23 mile rd but there is plant of food and things to do and have a great family atmosphere "
