Bar-X Ranch is a beautiful single-family residential community to the South of Houston. Nearby Brazoria River, Oyster Creek, Tenneco Lake makes this place a fishermans paradise! Beautiful trees and lawns attract all kinds of wildlife with deer roam around inside the community!Located just eight miles west of Angleton. The residential community began in the late 1970s and was named after a ranch that existed on the property. The history of the lands use dates back as early as the 1830s when a sugar plantation operated in the area. In later decades a cattle ranch, and eventually a rice farm. In the late twentieth century remnants of an old sugar mill were still apparent on the 5,000-acre property. Three small lakes were in the vicinity Eagle Lake, Bluebonnet Lake, and Hidden Lake. 4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI feel sorry for anyone who is in this school district. This school and faculty are more focused on what kids wear than academics or helping kids grow into competent and contributing adults. Fights several times a day in the bathrooms, there are meetings for groups that you are not notified about unless you have a facebook account, and search and try to figure out what accounts are something your kids should be involved in. There is zero communication from the school on anything of value, teachers and counselors do not care, your kid needs to know the right people to be involved in sports or they will not even be allowed to try out for the team. The construction has it to where kids don't even know where they should be. I have always been that parent who backs the school and faculty rather than my children, but I have seen it all firsthand. My kids getting dress-coded for wearing sweatpants - nice brand name ones, yet when I pulled up to the school, several other kids were wearing them. This school is an absolute embarrassment. I am now moving my kids to another school - I would highly recommend avoiding this school at all costs unless you support your children feeling inadequate and being bullied.Parent Review1y ago - West Brazos Junior High School
