"People help each other but are also pretty independent. There’s a long history, but also new families coming to live here. It has a lot of amenities for a small town and is close to Lansing and Grand Rapids for the bigger city experience."

"It is a great community with a lot to offer, but can make people whose families aren't from there feel a bit like outsiders."
    • Cabinetgirl
"Portland is situated between Grand Rapids, MI and Lansing, MI (state capital) providing a easy commute to either. There is also several factories and businesses in our small town, providing ban easy commute. Our downtown area has restaurants, shopping, entertainment, and many other businesses. "
    • Klyager
"We have not lived in the area long enough to give a very good review. For the most part it seems like a great area to live, with mostly farm land surrounding our property. Have had to problems with neighbors, although traffic is quite heavy at times. "
