The current principal is not warm and does not connect with or understand children. She lacks a background in child development and has never taught elementary school. According to kids, the principal is a "fun-ruiner." Play days have been cancelled, beloved performing arts traditions have ended abruptly, and most recently, the 5th grade Pali trip - a longstanding tradition since 2018 - was surreptitiously cancelled. Most shocking, the principal lied to a room-full of 5th grade parents when they inquired about whether the trip was happening. At a time when PUSD is already struggling, SME's administration is actively sabotaging relationships with parents who have been highly involved and financially supportive of the school for years. This does not bode well for the future of SME. Someone at the district needs to fix this.
