Housatonic Valley Regional High School has serious concerns when it comes to supporting students, especially those who rely on special education services. Many students and families feel the system moves far too slowly when IEPs or 504 Plans need changes or when additional support is clearly required. These delays can leave students struggling academically, emotionally, and socially for long periods of time.There is also a strong concern that student needs are not always addressed proactively. Instead of quickly putting effective supports in place, families often feel they are forced to repeatedly advocate just to get basic accommodations or services started or adjusted.In many cases, families report that once concerns are escalated or additional outside support is involved, responses appear to become faster and more action is taken. This inconsistency raises concerns about how reliably and fairly supports are being implemented from the beginning.Communication with families is another major issue. Updates are often limited, and families are not consistently included in ongoing planning or progress discussions. More frequent and transparent communication should be standard, not something that only happens when problems become serious.Overall, many believe the school urgently needs to improve its responsiveness, accountability, and special education supports. Students deserve timely intervention, consistent accommodations, and a system that prioritizes their success instead of delay and frustration

The bullying is atrocious. It is swept under the rug due to the children having some relations to teachers and bored of education. The communication between parents and teachers is very lack concerning this type of behavior. When a verbal or physical altracation takes place between students the parent is NOT notified. I am very disappointed. Don't recommend this school. E-k and Kindergarden teachers are great. That's the only positive attribute about the school I can think of. Good luck if you bring your child here.
