6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe learning and classes are good. But the over all “high school experience” honestly kind of sucks. We have no school spirit and our themes or dances are lame and it makes you not want to come to games or activities. I wish our administration and teachers would put more effort into our experience OUTSIDE of the classroom. Because hats honestly what you remember from highschool and it makes me sad that I don’t want to go to big games or whatever because of how lame and boring they are. I WISH TEACHERS AND ADMINISTRATION WOULD ENCOURAGE SCHOOL SPIRIT MORE. I would 100% have a better experience and have more fun.Student Review8y ago10 Reviews - Cheney Middle School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school over the past 3 years has only been getting worse, they are consistently losing their best educators and staff due to administrators always investing them for dumb reasons. They have serious student issues and would rather attack teachers for minor infractions such as "raising their voice too loud" then stop the drugs, the fights, and focus on student safety standards that they keep hiding the real data from the public. Students at the school in their own surveys when asked say, "They have no identity of belonging at the school" and more than half do not feel safe in the school. They are more focused on teaching staff infractions then they are concerned with students learning, emotional well being, and the strength of the good teachers to help students meet state level standards of learning.Other Review1y ago5 Reviews - Sunset Elementary School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI live in Airway Heights and my child attended Sunset from kindergarten to 2nd grade before they could no longer tolerate the chaos in and out of the classrooms. Children were often disruptively loud and obnoxious all day, causing others to not be able to concentrate and otherwise learn properly. Teachers often did nothing to prevent the chaos and just allowed the interruptions to continue on a near daily basis with little to no intervention. I’m honestly not sure where all these amazing reviews are coming from, especially considering it’s a highly underfunded and overcrowded school located in a low-income town. When my child first started there the test scores for this place were 30%, meaning only 3 out of 10 students received a passing grade on state tests. This is a horrible school with teachers who are underpaid, overworked and stuck in classes expected to teach 25+ kids and keep them on track. I don’t blame the teachers for not maintaining the rowdy kids, they don’t get paid enough to do so or to even try. They’re all exhausted and unmotivated. This rating system on this site is a lie. The school is very underfunded and majority of the students are not learning anything. We tried to move our child to a different elementary in the district and were told they, too, were far overcrowded and couldn’t take more students. Tried to move them out of district to Spokane and were told if they have room after everyone registered then we could, but they were also overcrowded, so that was a no go. This entire side of the state is littered with underfunded schools and overworked teachers. ESPECIALLY this school. All those wonderful ratings are lies and exaggerated results based on unreported data. For heaven’s sake, if you can somehow prevent your child from attending this school, I beg of you to do so. It’s not the teachers’ faults either, it’s primarily the fact that state funding for schools mostly goes to sports programs instead of education. They need smaller classes and to pay the teachers enough to actually care. Instead, we have massive football and basketball budgets that are paid for with taxes for entertainment purposes only. The short of it? This school is HORRIBLE. They are LYING. Test scores are LOWER. Bullies are PREVALENT and students are left to their own devices. One last thing, if you don’t pay for school lunches ahead of time, they will literally not feed your children. It’s roughly $5 a day for school lunches and it’s all incredibly unhealthy.Parent Review2y ago5 Reviews - Check out schools near E Crest Rd.

"Lovely neighborhood that feels like you’re out of town but you’re really just minutes from downtown. On the river with deer, moose, turkeys, eagles, and ospreys. "

"People do walk their dogs in the neighborhood, but there isn’t a great off-leash dog park. There is one not far, but it is very small compared to the one they took out to build a school. All other parks are on-leash. "

"If you're talking about greenstone properties development, I'm been here 8 years. It's got crowded people that don't live here come Here Is the problem for me? And I don't really like the idea. Without gating community, it is caused a problem for me. I can't hardly walk my dog sometimes. There might be 4 people walking I'd like to see the area gated with a key. So the only access to this place would be the people that live here. It's gotten polluted, people are breaking the fence. They're breaking the The bench a The shooting area and also other areas. They have broken, then I can't even tell you. So open gated HOA is no no"

"There are children around but only by necessity as rent is very cheap here. It is absolutely not friendly, one of the most dangerous areas in Spokane. Prolific trash and dumping, as well as a very heavy homeless population. There are obvious signs of drug use, as well as public drug use sightings increasing. People drive extremely fast and recklessly depending on the road. Not a place for children."

"Great neighborhood with amenities like parks, groceries and speciality stores. Convenient to get downtown via Southeast Blvd. Easy to get to the I-90 freeway to get to the Valley, Airway Heights, and area near the freeway. Not as cozy a neighborhood as the west side of the South Hill. More commercial but you get the conveniences."
