    The Cross 7 Ranch consists of +/- 977 acres of deeded land located at the bottom of the Sangre de Cristo Mountain range, overlooking the tiny town of Guadalupita, in Mora County, NM. It sits southeast of New Mexico's famous Enchanted Circle, and borders the Coyote Creek State park and large tracts of private lands. Land - This ranch is easily accessed off of scenic HWY 434, which links the ski town of Angel Fire and the old Spanish settler town of Mora. Entering off of HWY 434, the county just improved the entry road called the Coyote Loop Road which leads to the top of the Cerro Montoso mountain, where the ranch sits. The base elevation of the town of Guadalupita is just a hint over 7,000 ft above sea. Cross 7 Ranch is located at the top of Cerro Montoso where the majority of the land flattens out and has an elevation of about 8550 ft. above sea level. The land is covered in healthy pine, spruce, aspen and open fields of native grassland. - The crown jewel of the ranch is a seasonal pond called the horseshoe pond, which is named appropriately because of the shelf-like rock outcropping walls that form a horseshoe shape that surrounds it. The pond has been known to get to depths of 10-12 feet. The animals love this spot and treat it as an oasis. This pond offers perfect open sites for hunting and many places to set blinds to strategically hunt from. Horseshoe pond has a track record of many animals being garnered from its location. On any given day you can see hoof and paw prints from elk, deer, bear, mountain lion, bobcat, lynx, coyote, and turkey. The ranch also supports 2 other ponds. One is an open pasture catch pond. The other is Justin's pond, which is hidden in the trees and is a favorite honey hole for the owner. The owners have harvested many animals for years around Justin's pond. Hunting - Cross 7 Ranch is located in NM GMU 46 and is part of the Private Owner EPLUS game management program established by NM Game and Fish. This means that yearly Elk tags are allocated to the ranch owner. This ranch's allocation is currently 5 tags. (The owner states that an allocation of more tags can be achieved.) 3 of the elk tags are for either sex and the other 2 are allotted for cow only. Over the years, many mature bulls and healthy cows have been hunted on this ranch. 320+ size bulls are a common site for the area. Mule deer are also abundant and roam this ranch. The owner has claimed some big trophy bucks as far as he can remember and has had successful turkey hunts year after year. GMU 46 also offers mule deer, turkey, grouse, bear, mountain lion, with other big and small game hunting both over the counter and through the draw system.
