There's a lot going on, and some family friendly places, but I just don't see it as the safest place for a kid to grow up. Maybe just outside of downtown would be better if you're looking to be very close to the city center."

Traffic is pretty normal for a big city with 1 million + people. I moved here from California, and Austin is still better than that (SF area, LA area, San Diego, etc.)."
