"I grew up in the neighborhood. DC native. it's quiet and people on the block get to know each other. If you a aware of your surroundings it's safe and walkable. Parking is getting more challenging but not impossible like some others neighborhoods"

"Nice neighborhood with many detached homes from the 20s and later. Good amenities, lots of friendly neighbors."

"I don’t like all the new people who’ve moved to the area. The new people aren’t very friendly, don’t return a ‘hello’ very often and are pompous with their pets."

"sometimes people don't clean up.behind their dogs. I've been victim to walking in dog poo and having to clean it off after I've gotten to work! Not sightly or a great way to smell walking into your office. "

"Up and coming. Mostly safe. Streets never get cleaned. Easy parking. Schools are not good. A lot of trees. "

"I’ve lived in Brookland for 21 years. Although it has a small town feel and is somewhat residential, Brookland has the red line metro to get you downtown or to NW in minutes. Also, the architecture is VERY eclectic— there are examples of every style of architecture from Victorian and Queen Anne in the 1800s to every other popular style during the 20th century and beyond. We even have the highest concentration of black architect designed houses in the US right here in Brookland. My belief is that this variation in architecture has translated into an equally varied population in the neighborhood— something for everyone! What unites us is that we all care deeply about our homes and the green space that surrounds us. Ward 5 is the greenest Ward in the city."

"Super close to metro, but lots of single family houses on big lots. Diverse residents and a good number of families with young kids"

"Close to metro. Up and coming, still not entirely there, high priced. Public schools are problematic. Some good restaurants. "
