"I lived here around 9 years ago when it was a high crime area. Since then, the are has changed for the better with the homes being built in this community (Riverwalk), the improvement of Central Park for businesses and the baseball parks that are there now. I relocated to North Carolina but, I frequent the area and I must say, I am proud of the improvements that have been made to this area. The crime was always low and pretty much, people just kept to themselves. If I were given the opportunity to relocate to this area, I would do it without question!"

  • Trulia User
"This area of the city (College Heights) has a lot of college kids, but is not very college friendly compared to other college towns. The main shopping area for the college is several blocks away from campus and requires some form of motorized transportation to get to. If you try to make any changes to your house, the ARB (Architectural Review Board) will make it next to impossible for you; even if keeping with the same style of structure. While the police department is has high visibility, the fire and rescue service in Fredericksburg takes forever to respond to calls, most times requiring help from other counties."
