The Hamptons at Town Center Apartment Homes

Am very impressed with Seneca Valley. It’s community involvement and dedication to the students is commendable. My daughter is excited to go to school because of her peers and the staff.

*I am a student in the Humanities Program*Learning: There are multiple people in most of my classes who rarely show up to class, but overall attendance isn't a large issue. Majority of students do seem disinterested in learning, and the way courses and assignments are poised make it seem like school isn't for learning as much as completion.Special Ed: There is at least one staff member that is always with special needs students through the halls and in class that seem to help them.Teaching: I love most of my teachers and feel they truly care about my learning, but they are excessively disrespected in this school to the point where they start behaving angrily at all students.Safety: Safety is by far the biggest issue. There are multiple security guards, but that has not improved the safety. Hallways are extremely dangerous, as there are fights at all times. There are bi-daily larger fights that gain crowds, but most of the time they are only enough to get the people nearby knocked down and escape attention. I've experienced frequent shelter-in-places due to numerous reasons, which are most of the time not disclosed to parents or students. Social-emotional support: This school does have a counselor for each grade, but the organization is terrible. There is a calendar which you can choose an appointment slot on, which seems efficient. However, my friends and I once had a simple question about school volunteering and were told by our teacher to make an appointment with the counselor, so we did. We came to the counselor at our designated time to find that the counselor was supposedly in a meeting, though we had picked an open slot on the schedule. We decided to reschedule the appointment only for the same thing to occur. We ended up being able to ask another staff member in the counseling office and receive an answer, but the whole ordeal was aggravating. So, while support is provided, it is not easily accessed.Family Engagement: Family doesn't have a large part in the school, but they have many opportunities to visit school events, etc.Overall, this school is better than most in the area.

Best school in Germantown. Diversity in school. I transfered my daughter from rockville to waters landing elementary school after a friend suggested. My daughter was bullied in rockville elementary after complaining many times school didnt take any action. I am very happy after moving to waters landing. My daughter is happy about her classs mates and teachers are welcoming. Her test score has increased comparatively from her previous school. The teachers are helping out students indvidually to achieve the success. Best part no to bullying here, and good environment
