7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAs a parent, it breaks my heart to say this, but this school has a serious issue with diversity, equity, inclusion and families deserve to know the truth before enrolling their children.Over the years, Iโve noticed a consistent pattern of racial bias that has impacted my childโs confidence and sense of belonging. Itโs something many other parents have privately shared with me as well. Even staff members have acknowledged concerns about how the school handles diversity. Here are just a few of the issues:โข Performances & representation: In school events, African-American students are consistently placed on the ends, never centered, and rarely more than two or three are included.โข Lack of diverse staff: There are no African-American or Latino teachers on staff. The only representation seems to be in yard duty or crossing guard roles.โข Unequal discipline: There was an incident where an African-American boy was bullied, yet he was sent home while the other child involved (who was not African-American) received no consequence at all. This is not the first time Iโve witnessed disparities in how children are disciplined.โข Daily environment: If you are African-American, prepare to feel uncomfortable at pickup. There is a noticeable energy of being watched, judged, or looked up and down by others including staff. To be fair, the school is located in a nice area, the uniform policy is convenient, and there are some truly wonderful teachers doing their best. But those positives do not outweigh the deep-rooted cultural issues that continue to affect children of color.Every child deserves a safe, inclusive, supportive school environment. Unfortunately, this school has a long way to go in addressing hidden racism, unequal treatment, and representation. I hope the administration takes these concerns seriously, because families of color deserve betterParent Review6mo ago10 Reviews - Rogers Middle School

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI feel compelled to write a review in the hopes that I can save another family from experiencing the hell that is Rogers Middle School. Hate speech, threats of violence and actual physical violence run rampant in this school. Teachers turn a blind eye and in some cases are a bully themselves. The principal acts like a child and is not respected as an authority figure by the students. They think the best way to deal with violent students is to talk it out. The students know they can get away with things and there is no discipline. I feel as though itโs generous to rate this school a one because my child will have to deal with a lifetime of trauma and that deserves a negative number in my opinion.Parent Review2mo ago18 Reviews - Wilson High School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageTaught here for a number of years. Moved my own kids to Orange County because I didn't want them attending here. The administration was just horrible. The whole district is more worried about their reputation, looking good and garnering awards from no name organizations. The administration will post rules and policies but are no where to be found enforcing them. Long Beach does not seem to get rid of bad principals either. Instead they just shuffle them around to other sites. A colleague of mine called this the "dance of the lemons."Teacher Review1y ago18 Reviews - Check out schools near 4115 E 1st St.

"Neighborhood concerts and very friendly neighbors that say hello when you walk by them. Everyone has a pup and a bike. You will never feel lonely or bored in the shore. Dog beach is down the street and the homes have beautiful yards and patios to admire during walks. "

"Rosies dog beach is nearby and always full of dogs off leash, playing around, and having a dandy time. Most restaurants that have a patio, will allow dogs as well. Itโs lovely."

"Dog beach in the area. A lot of people walking their dogs. However, neighbors with dogs, their dogs bark often. Its annoying especially being a person that works nights."

"Hard to get out of the neighborhood. One way streets, hardly used bike lanes, annoying roundabouts, not close to any freeway, that adds 15+ mins to your commute. Iโm moving "

"Dogs are always welcomed however there are dog owners who are not responsible and leave poop on lawns and sidewalks. They should pick up after their dogs."

"Dogs are a common staple here since they are so welcome and loved in this neighborhood; however, owners wonโt mind standing on your lawn which their dogs use the restroom on and wonโt pick it up. Even if you have a sign or even a small fence, they will welcome themselves in and leave the mess! I would say 80% of people who live here have dogs, but the 20% that donโt, hate the ones that do and will make sure you know it. "

"I have lived in Belmont Shores for a year now and absolutely love it. Every single home is taken care of, not one eye sore. Its the kind of place where a piece of llitter on the sidewalk would find its way into my hand because it looked so out of place. Not a snobby place by all means however. The cost of living is affordable for this beachfront community with its many amenitiies. The dog beach that spans the length of the enclave, the trendy and hip shops, bars, and ethnic restaurants on 2nd Street. set the living platform for a fairly diverse, friendly while not nosey group of singles, couples, retirees and some young families to prosper from within. Everyone is always seemingly happy and the permeating lovely fresh sea breaze and pretty environment is why. I am convinced."
