Community Description

Call it recreation, relaxation, happiness or just flat out fun. When it comes to leisure living, Hawthorne Crest understands the true meaning of "play. "The living proof is found in this 43-homesite neighborhood in Renton's Cascade-Fairwood community. It's close to 29 public parks, numerous hiking trails and two activity-filled Lake Washington beaches. But that's not enough. At Hawthorne Crest, the spotlight also belongs to its very own open space and playground right at its naturally landscaped entrance. Hoop it up on the half-length basketball court and watch kids romp on the active play structure here. And that is just the start. Hawthorne Crest's full range of home designs emphasize interior fun throughout, too. Multi-Purpose Rooms are primed for gaming and entertainment. Leisure Rooms await healthy indoor fitness, hobbies and kid zones. The Signature Outdoor Room found in every plan is an undeniable connection to countless casual and larger scale celebrations. Each extends from the voluminous Great Room, chic Dining Room and sophisticated Gourmet Kitchen. Find everything needed for treating guests - or just yourself - at the nearby Target or with trend-worthy and reliable take-out treats at The Landing in Renton. In a single day of Hawthorne Crest living, it's possible to swim and splash at nearby Henry Moses Aquatic Center; pump up your pup's social life at the four-acre Cedar River Dog Park; and finish off the day with a seasonal Kidd Valley Summer Concert at Gene Coulon Memorial Beach Park. Urbane amenities - from professional sports to big-name concerts - are as close as 11 driving minutes to downtown Seattle. Expanded shopping and upscale dining are equally nearby in Bellevue.

"there are several Parks in the neighborhood and plenty of trails to walk. It's a very quiet neighborhood with a neighborhood watch looking out for fellow neighbors. Police patrol the neighborhood from time to time to ensure the neighborhood stays quiet. "
  • Trulia User
"it's still a good portion of an hour or more to Seattle during rush hour...but far away enough from the city where you don't feel crowded"
  • Trulia User
"A little bit longer to Seattle but constant movement...easy access to highways and freeways but far enough away not to hear them"
  • Laura
"Beautiful homes with large lots, laid back gated golf community..friendly neighbors and easy access to parks & hiking trails!"
  • Kmalits42

  • Piper S.
"it’s very inclusive and we’re improving every day and changing and growing and thriving as a community"
  • Piper S.
"it’s very short from work to school to back home and it’s relatively easy because there aren’t many different routes"
  • Happygolucky7
"Pot lucks, block parties, farmer’s markets nearby, easy access to freeways lots of shopping centers and plenty of walking trails"
  • Mark M.
"Commute to 405 isn’t terrible but it has definitely become more congested over the years. New developments are popping up everywhere. "
  • Keshiaporcincula
"Awful. Traffic everywhere sometimes takes up to 20 minutes just to get through a turn signal light. "
  • Alex
"My Commute from Monday-Friday average about 40-45minutes. Same thing with coming home after 5pm. After that commute varies and anywhere you want to go expect at least 30min."
  • Laurie M.
"There are2 parks and the library in walking distance. Great family neighborhood! Also able to walk to walk to Gym, grocery, and multiple restaurants."
  • Linda M
"I am retired now, but when I worked downtown Seattle, I would catch the bus across the street in the morning and in the afternoon, this bus would drop me off at me driveway. One bus from home to downtown took about 40 mins."
  • Sarah J.
"Decent neighborhood, easy commute to the greater Seattle area. The Kent school district is great if you live in the cascade area"
  • Haielarose
"There are a lot of dogs in the area. Leashes are required. People and dogs and generally all friendly and clean."
  • Ckabueg
"I've lived in this neighbourhood for 2 years. I like that I'm close to a lot of things (e.g. Shakey's, IKEA, grocery stores, highways). The public transit can be better though. I wish there's a train going through Renton."
  • Amanda f.
"It's safe. Mostly. And quiet. Neighbors are normal. Park is nice too. "
  • ReddPen
"It's not too small of a community to not know the residents personally, have everything needed in a small mile radius and yet, for most, not so large that one might feel confined or stressed by over population. Houses are not right on top of one another, yards not too small and nature is still plentiful. Thankfully, it's not the city."
  • Paul G.
"I've lived in Woodside for a few years and love all of the safe walking paths, the friendly, caring neighbors, retention pond areas, the trails through the large wooded areas, and the frequent visits from birds, bunnies, salamanders, and the group of 4-5 deer that seem to visit every day! The neighborhood connects with Fairwood, so visits from golf carts happen! I'd love to see a PCC, Whole Foods or Trader Joes, but nearby Safeway is ok and Fred Meyer is better, though about 10 minutes away. Starbucks is close enough in the Fairwood shopping area too!"
  • Sally
"It is an Engaged Community in all aspects."
