"Cedar Lake is not near any public transportation. But it is adjacent to the major highway Route 41. "
  • Rambler8190
"I've been here for almost 3 years. It's pretty quiet. Nice farmers' market in the summer. Drawbacks: not walkable. Only one grocery store. More than 10 miles to closest hospital. Parks are lacking but they are working on improvements. So much new construction in the past 15 years that the infrastructure hasn't kept up. It's a work in progress."
  • Soxgrl6
"My commute is relatively easy as I take main and back roads. There is easy travel to get to either I65 or 394. Wherever you need to go, it’s pretty simple to get your away around here using many of the main roads. "
  • Hannah Dawson
"cedar awake is super family-friendly. It has great schools and a lot of great food options. Definitely a safe space for kids."
  • Alecgls1
"My commute to the city is not terrible. About an hour to 1:10 if I leave after 5am. I have made the commute in 45 mins with no traffic."
  • Megan W.
"We have a great farmers market very 2nd and 4th Wednesday during the summer and fall months. Our Fourth of July festival is great. Cedar lake is a very good and safe town to raise a family in "
  • Miguel B.
"It’s nice for dogs and people Are friendly to dogs and there’s a lot of space for a dog to have fun and to run ."
  • Dynamo16_16
"There’s is no issue with owning a dog and living here. Everyone is friendly. I have 3 dogs and never have a problem even if they leave the yard. Respectful neighbors. I could live here forever! "
  • Sammie H.
"I’ve lived here all my life. I’m still living with my parents, as my fiancé and I are trying to save money and get rid of our debt before buying a house. We are looking to buy a home in Cedar Lake. We both went to Hanover schools and are comfortable with the idea of raising our kids here."
  • DJ
"I have lived in Havenwood in CL for 15 years We have 2 ponds that you can fish in. A nice family friendly park with a basketball court and a pavilion that you can use for parties. There are sidewalks for you to walk your dog and children to ride their bikes. "
  • Sammie H.
"I have lived here my whole life. It used to be a small town full of corn fields, and you always ran into people you knew in public. Now it is rapidly growing and the school systems are crowded. (I’m a teacher in NW Indiana.) There are pros and cons to the increase in population, but I love this town."
  • Deb
"Commuting to major Metro Areas is somewhat time consuming. Train Stations are all at least 35 mins drive. And the train commute to Chicago would be an additional 45 mins to an hour depending on the station you depart from. Don’t move to CL if you want to have a short commute to work. "
  • Jen
"Very family friendly neighborhoods, quiet neighbors, & has a lot get togethers for holidays like 4 of July etc. "
  • Martin B.
"There is a yearly fourth of July festival. There are rides and a fireworks show over the lake. Summers are good and not very crowded."
