6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageStarting off with the teachers, they are perfectly okay, but the administration me and a handful of people are constantly faced with discrimination with how we go to school. My friend was missing school a lot and she had doctors notes and excused absences but the school decided they weren't satisfied and not only kicked her out of the school but called truancy on her while in surgery that day. She also has much older parents that are in need of care, but all that matters to this school is their reputation, money, and sports. My friend isn't allowed by the school to take her first semester exams (even though she has good grades and usually does all her work last minute since she has so much going on) all she wanted to do was get into Eastern Michigan and now she would have truancy on her record and would have to make up all 50% of her semester at another school (Exams are next week. Today 1/9/2024) She has a 504 plan (They refused to modify it in her transcripts when she wanted to come back in person) because she is physically disabled herself. I'm currently 19 (I had young 5s) and I had moved out from my parent's house and yet they refuse to accept just me being in-charge of when I leave. Yesterday, I wasn't feeling the best. I was cramping hard, feeling like I was going to throw up and ontop of that I had a family emergency to go to. My parents refuse to call and excuse any of my absences since they put me in-charge of it, the main office lady told me I needed to get a parent to call and excuse my absence but unfortunately they wouldn't pick up my call because of the emergency and they wouldn't want to do it anyway. I ended up waiting the rest of 7th hour to leave, I even almost fell down the stairs I was in so much pain. Speaking of, they do not accommodate for the disabled that need a wheelchair or even the people who broke bones. They have handicap buttons outside of FEW classrooms that don't even work and they have 2 ramps, kids would have to go all the way around the whole school one way to get to their classes. Regardless, they treat sports kids differently, don't address the threats until during lunch or after school, administration tells students that they're being dramatic or 'asking for it' when it's a serious issue at home, horrible food, overall do not recommend. Their slogan is fake just as much as their shady administration (except for majority of the teachers and one counselor, they're a saving grace and deserve everything) Overall, don't.Student Review2mo ago - Climax-Scotts Elementary School
