5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son has been there since kindergarten and is now in 5th grade. The teachers and staff and the principle have all done a great job. I think 5th graders should have more challenging homework.Parent Review6y ago - Lakewood High School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageLack of security & concerns of comprehensive learning, my son went off school grounds & was playing poker with his friends at the abandoned gas station near by, they told me they didn't have enough security to patrol the area to make sure students make it back to class. The next week the principal sends out a mass email complaining about the parents not sending their kids to school for health reasons which violates colorado law. You're asking a lot of this community, when in fact you should be helping parents feel more secure about sending them to a safe learning environment that cares about their health regardless if it medical or mental. Yall should be ashamed of yourselves worrying more about your numbers and looking good on paper.Parent Review5mo ago - Manning Options School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school supports all students and helps me as a student with special needs succeed. Many of the negative reviews are from when the school had a different principal. I have had bad experiences with some teachers but most are thoughtful and expect all students. Although this school has some dumb rules and high goals. I have found that they do a lot to help students succeed.Student Review6mo ago - Creighton Middle School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school sucked. It is the most racist, homeophobic schools ever as of 2024. A kid once stole a water fountain from this school last year, that was pretty funny.Student Review3mo ago - Dennison Elementary School

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageUnfortunately All five of my siblings and I had the "opportunity" to go to D'Evelyn. However as many would assume/expect that we were lucky, it was the complete opposite experience. I would never recommend this school to anyone... it is actually HORRIBLE. 4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageIf you care about your child's education, then do not go to this school. No grades, no real guidance, no discipline, no structure and no motivation geared towards actual education. It does not hold kids accountable, does not teach responsibility and does not set kids up for success.Parent Review1mo ago - Jefferson County Open Secondary

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school only works for a very small number of learners. The quality of teachers is really hit or miss. The ideology behind this learning environment is student lead learning. Unfortunately if you have anything other than an outstanding teacher the student is left to fail academically while shouldering the blame for not being self-directed. A few students thrive, unfortunately many are poorly prepared academically for life after high school. The administration is unwilling or unable to fully accept responsibility for the safety of their students during school hours. Drug use, alcohol consumption, and sex on campus does occur at this secondary school which shares a campus with K-6. Do not accept the hype that the community environment is so great that these students respect the rules. I was recently informed that 1/2 of the class in one of my students electives chooses to regularly not attend that class. No attendance is recorded and they are simply unaccounted for during this time. This did not seem problematic to the teacher at all. I'm unsure how this compares to other schools. I was surprised this type of behavior existed, since the number of students that are enrolled at JCOS is so low, and the advisers claim to be deeply invested. The administration's response is that the students are choosing to break the rules and it is not the schools philosophy to police them. There are very few extra curricular activities offered through the school. There is almost no focus on physical education. PE classes that do exist have almost entirely male enrollment. A holistic approach to education is not embraced here. The exceptional outcome that occasionally occurs at this school is promoted as the norm. Please be aware that it is not.Parent Review5y ago - Check out schools near 1312 Independence St #TO5EEA.

"This neighborhood is an older, blue-collar area that feels safe. A lot of residents own dogs and take good care of them (use a leash, pick up waste, etc.). There is lots of good food delivery options and is close to Belmar retail shopping center. 15 minutes to downtown Denver and 15 minutes to foothills. "

"Opening of the West Rail Line has begun to change the face of the neighborhood from a rural to a close-in urban landscape with unlimited potential for future growth in high-quality, high-density neighborhood. Neighborhood will be well suited for young, college attending singles and future businesses moving into the area to accommodate this demographic. Located near the massive Lakewood TMU zone area at Wadsworth Blvd and Colfax Ave and future increases in real estate value are almost assured. The W Line at the Lakewood-Wadsworth Station IS the premier station of the City of Lakewood. The Station has its own shuttle bus to the Belmar Shopping area and “downtown? Lakewood municipal buildings. With the opening of the West Rail Light Rail Line, the current location is fantastic: LEAVE THE CAR behind and take light rail to see the Broncos, the Nuggets, The Rockies, downtown Denver theater district, and restaurants and cultural events. In 2016 you will be able to LEAVE THE CAR BEHIND and take the light rail to Union Station and take the commuter train to DIA. Cultural and economic trends STONGLY favor the neighborhood as young college graduates, burdened with student loans and the cultural connections with online social media are no longer buying automobiles and all indications point to Gen-Y as preferring to live near transit, downtown Denver, halfway to Golden and gateway to the recreational mountains -- and the desire to LEAVE THE CAR BEHIND along with the automobile’s expense and damage to the environment. "

"Lakewood is revitalizing, beautifying...as it is turning into a lovely place for that sweet combination of retirees and new families/homebuyers. Light rail will allow young and retired to hop aboard to enjoy the city. If you don't need to go downtown, shopping, Starbucks and local restaurants are all within 5-15 minutes. No concern for over-active parties, yet great preservation of land zoned for quiet livestock. Country still lives in the city!"
