Valerie Harper, who skyrocketed to fame as beloved BFF Rhoda Morgenstern on The Mary Tyler Moore Show, just listed her three-bed, two-bath hacienda-style home for sale in Santa Monica, CA, for $4.2 million. Harper has owned the home for nearly 20 years — she bought it back in 1996 for $765,000. Oh, how times (and price tags) have changed!
The 2,131-square-foot home, which was built in 1920, is just two blocks from the stunning Palisades Bluffs, which overlook the Pacific Ocean. And with high ceilings and a large fireplace in the living room, this is the perfect mountain retreat to cozy up by the fire and settle in for some girl talk.
A separate dining room opens to an interior courtyard, while the kitchen/family room combo opens out to the rear yard. The master bedroom features a pitched ceiling, and two additional bedrooms are adjoined by a jack-and-jill bath. Additional amenities include a dining patio, spacious backyard, and a sports court with a basketball hoop.
Harper and Mary Tyler Moore have maintained their friendship all these years. In fact, Harper appeared recently in a PBS documentary about her former co-star, titled Mary Tyler Moore: A Celebration. The actress, who is currently living with terminal cancer, continues to work in theater, TV, and film, including a recent guest spot on 2 Broke Girls, another popular show about hanging out with your bestie.
