Live Like a Unicorn in These Rainbow Colored Homes

Where unicorn trendsetters can find a home fit for their multicolor dreams.

The unicorn trend — it’s hit coffee shops, it’s hit pool floats, it’s even hit our most beloved breakfast foods…unicorn bagels, anyone? America has fully embraced the multi-hued moment. To get into the colorful spirit of things, Trulia searched the country for homes and neighborhoods where even the most color-crazed unicorns would feel at home.

From Rainbow Road in Charleston, SC, to the Jewel Box neighborhood in Capitola, CA, here are seven homes from across the nation that cross the color spectrum and stand out for all the (b)right reasons.

  • One of the Lovely Painted Ladies: 929 Hayes St., San Francisco, CA

    Price: $1,995,000

One of San Francisco’s most iconic architectural sights is the Painted Ladies, a row of brightly-colored Victorian homes located in the Haight-Ashbury neighborhood. Made famous by their appearance in the opening credits of the television show “Full House,” these pastel beauties sit across the street from Alamo Square Park in the heart of the city. Located just a short block away is this lovely two unit building. Situated in the heart of Hayes Valley, one of the city’s most stylish and popular neighborhoods, the home features green, blue, and pink detailing and an oversized backyard garden.

  • Indigo on Rainbow Row: 103 East Bay Street, Charleston, SC

    Price: $2,800,000

Famous for its prismatic colors, Rainbow Row in Charleston, SC is a travel destination in and of itself. One of the original 13 houses on the row, the Joseph Dulles House was built during the American Revolution and recently restored. While much of the home was updated to include marble through the kitchen and bathrooms, the original hardwood floors were restored, keeping a piece of Charleston history alive in this four-bedroom, three- and a half-bathroom home. The builder was an ancestor of U.S. Secretary of State John Foster Dulles.

  • Welcome to Miami: 1581 Brickell Avenue #908, Miami, FL

    Price: $350,000

Spend your days and nights in living color inside this airy, vibrant one-bedroom, one-bathroom condo in South Beach. Miami homes are known for their funky and bright palette, and this Miami landmark building — the Villa Regina — plays right along. While this condo might be quiet and calm on the inside, the Villa Regina overlooks South Beach, one of Miami’s most vibrant and active neighborhoods year round.

  • An Aquamarine in the Jewel Box: 208 Saxon Ave., Capitola, CA 95010

    Price: $875,000

The Jewel Box in neighborhood in Capitola, CA, is named for its gem-inspired streets: Crystal Street, Diamond Street, Emerald Street, Garnet Street, Jade Street, Jewel Street, Opal Street, Ruby Ct. and Topaz Street. However, it could also be named for the beautiful colors shown by the homes here – like this sapphire-colored one-bedroom, one-bathroom cottage. The home features light blue and purple walls throughout, a large porch at the front of the house and an avocado tree in the backyard.

  • A Cotton Candy Treat: 8259 N Wayland Ave., Portland, OR 97203

    Price: $400,000

Portland is rich with Victorian-style homes, and luckily, this unicorn-inspired Queen Anne, with four bedrooms and two bathrooms, is ready for you to move in! Imagine eating your unicorn toast in your unicorn pajamas in the morning, watching the sunrise through cotton candy-colored window frames. Sounds like a sweet dream!

  • Mardi Gras and Unicorns: A Match Made in Heaven: 1720 Washington Ave., New Orleans, LA

    Price: $749,000

If you like unicorn frappuccinos and laying on unicorn floats in your pool, there’s a good chance you’d also love the Carnival lifestyle. New Orleans is the hub of live music, delicious cuisine and an unmatched nightlife, so when Mardi Gras comes to town, lay your head at night in this cool blue abode with a red door that features four separate units–perfect for you and all of your friends.

  • The Sea Holly: 815 Stockton Ave., Cape May, NJ

    Price: $1,699,000

A block from the ocean, this turquoise eight-bedroom, seven-bathroom charmer would be just the right fit for a family of unicorn aficionados. Whether it’s a day at the beach, an afternoon on the boardwalk or a night playing the slots, none of these summer pastimes are too far from the Sea Holly. And if you come in the fall, you’ll catch the migration of monarch butterflies – which just may be the inspiration for 2018’s pop culture trend.
