Minnie Driver Sells Her Longtime LA Home, Upgrades

Award-winning actress sells one, settles into another (but posher).

Out with the old, in with the new!

Actress Minnie Driver just sold her longtime Los Angeles estate for $1,500,000. She’s lived in the Spanish-style casa since June 1998, when she purchased the place for $775,000. The romantic home featured original 1926 craftsmanship and inspired detailing throughout.

Despite the charm, Driver recently traded way up for a more traditional-style, 3-bedroom, 4-bathroom, 2,765-square-foot estate that she paid $2,465,000 for in September 2014.

Before she went for the upgrade, Driver called the Spanish-style place home for almost two decades. Her just-sold home features a formal living room, dining room, and true culinary kitchen. The breakfast area opens to a dramatic dining terrace with canyon views beyond.

The courtyard is a centerpiece of the home, with an outdoor fireplace, vintage Mexican tile, and colorful gardens. Downstairs, the home has two “master-sized” bedrooms, each with its own bath and tons of closet space. A perfect setup for Minnie, who’s a single mom to a young son.

A third bedroom with its own bath, right off the kitchen, is perfect for guests. Other special features of the home include custom woodwork, a wine cellar, custom tile, a wood-beamed living room with oversized fireplace, a sunroom/office, tankless water heaters, and a large 2-car garage.

Joe Reichling of Sotheby’s International Realty represented Driver in the sale (and the purchase of her new home as well!), and Leyla Blumenfeld of Nest Seekers represented the buyers.
