Once Broke 'Game of Thrones' Actress Lena Headey Buys Sherman Oaks Fixer-Upper

Nearly a year after ‘Game of Thrones’ actress Lena Headey claimed she had “less than $5” in her bank account, the actress, who plays Queen Cersei on the hit show, has just purchased a dated fixer-upper in Sherman Oaks, CA for $790,000.

Property records show the deal for the 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom, 1,808 square foot home closed on April 4, 2014.

In April 2013, Headey opened up about the reality of her financial situation in legal docs related to her 2012 divorce filing from husband Peter Loughran. In the docs, she was petitioning for half of the couple’s $46,000 2011 tax return, saying she needed the money asap to make ends meet for her and their 2 year-old son. The media reports were shocking, since many people figured she was well-compensated for her role as a main character on one of the most popular shows currently on TV.

Her precarious financial situation was exacerbated when she sold her former home in Los Angeles‘ Laurel Canyon-area at a loss. That home was purchased by Headey and her ex-husband for $1,685,000 in June 2008 and sold for $1,349,000 in late 2012.

Her new home isn’t much to look at (by Hollywood standards), but it does have potential. Located in one of the best neighborhoods Sherman Oaks has to offer, the traditional home has a mid-century modern twist and sits on a beautiful and quiet tree-lined street.

Spacious, bright and airy, with a good floor plan and great ‘bones,’ Headey’s new home has a decent-sized kitchen that conveniently opens to the family room for easy entertaining.

A large master suite has ample closets and a private bath.

The backyard has a lovely pool, covered patio and gardens.

Ben DI Benedetto of Keller Williams Studio City represented the sellers (who were the original owners) and Zoe Rudolph of John Aaroe Group was Headey’s real estate agent.
