Keith Richards Is Selling His Manhattan Penthouse

Less than two years after buying it for $10.5 million, Keith Richards is saying goodbye to his four-bed, four-bath home for sale in Manhattan. The rocker’s duplex penthouse, last renovated in 2011, is in one of Fifth Avenue’s most prestigious properties — and now the price tag is $12.23 million.

The contemporary-style property includes three setback terraces on the main floor, offering stunning views of the stylish Greenwich Village neighborhood from the living, dining, and entertainment spaces. A library/guest room with a full en-suite bathroom can be fully separated from the rest of the floor by a large sliding wall. And the master bedroom suite boasts two spacious walk-in closets (no doubt packed with Keith’s lovely array of leather jackets and silk scarves), and a spa-like bathroom with a soaking tub and double vanity.

An open staircase with a leather-wrapped bronze handrail leads to the upper level, where there are two winged bedrooms, both of which have en-suite baths. In between, a large sitting area offers private city views. The 2011 renovation added Lutron lighting, central AC with an air-purifying system, and a fully integrated Sonos sound system, which we’re sure got cranked up once or twice.

The sophisticated Art Deco property was originally a luxury hotel, designed by architect Harvey Wiley Corbett in 1929. But in true rock star style, this isn’t Richards’ only home. He also has a bucolic retreat in ritzy Weston, CT (you may have caught a glance of it in Vogue a few years back). Clearly, when this guy plays “Gimme Shelter,” what he means is a multimillion-dollar pad.
