New mom Jennifer Love Hewitt has just sold her waterfront home in LA’s Toluca Lake suburb to Jessica Simpson’s mom Tina – at a massive loss!
In an off-market deal that closed on April 11, 2014, Tina Simpson paid $4.1 million for the 4 bedroom home that Hewitt bought for $5.5 million for in January 2006. For those doing the math, that’s a $1.4 million-dollar loss for Jennifer.
At one point in time, Hewitt had two Toluca Lake estates on the same street. She listed and sold one for $2.15 million in 2012, and leased out the other, asking $12,500 a month.
While the newly-married Hewitt happily decamped to her new modern Pacific Palisades mansion with husband and new baby in tow, the for-rent house eventually (secretly) went up for sale, and the former Mrs. Simpson swooped in an nabbed it for a bargain.
Tina Simpson may have been the leasee all along, as she and Joe Simpson split in the Fall of 2012 and their Encino mansion went up for sale for $4.3 million.
Buying under her maiden name, Tina officially bought Hewitt’s updated four bedroom home right on Toluca Lake. The Spanish-style home features an office with separate entrance, a music room, gym, master bedroom overlooking the lake, and a double master bath.
The family room opens up to the patio overlooking a private pool, spa and lakefront dock, where there’s plenty of space to dock a power boat and kayaks.
