“Fifty Shades” Author E. L. James Buys $7.25 Million LA Home

That’s quite a lot of green to match those “Fifty Shades of Grey.”

Skies are anything but gray for author E. L. James, who rose to fame with her risqué Fifty Shades romance trilogy. Instead, the bestselling author is settling in under the California sun, where she just dropped $7.25 million on a five-bed, seven-bath piece of Los Angeles, CA, real estate in the stylish West Hollywood neighborhood.

The 5,616-square-foot home is certainly fit for a tycoon like the one and only Christian Grey. Located on a high ridge overlooking Los Angeles, with views extending all the way to the ocean and islands, this newly constructed, contemporary-style home is on a lot measuring more than 19,000 square feet. Every room offers stunning views, and the home features welcoming, comfortable amenities like stone and hardwood floors, a high-tech kitchen with exotic lacquered wood cabinetry and Miele appliances, a media lounge with a wet bar and fireplace (perhaps to watch all those Fifty Shades films), and a walk-in chilled wine room. While all five bedrooms are suites, the master suite is the crowning touch of the property thanks to floor-to-ceiling windows that open onto expansive open terraces perched high above the city. No word if the new house has a “play room,” a la Christian Grey.

E. L. and her husband, Niall, spend a significant amount of time in their native Great Britain. According to the Daily Mail, in 2013, she bought a £1.13 million Cornish getaway in Polzeath to serve as their very own luxurious retreat. But with E. L.’s books being turned into movies at rapid speed, Tinseltown must have been too hard to resist.
