Billionaire Microsoft founder-turned-philanthrapist Bill Gates and his wife Melinda have just purchased an expansive equestrian estate in Wellington, Florida for $8.7 million. Nestled in an exclusive community, the mansion will be home base for the Gates family when they spend time in the area while their teenage daughter competes in prestigious equestrian competitions.
Gossip Extra is reporting that the Gates family paid in cash for the four-bedroom home in the extra-exclusive Mallet Hill neighborhood, which has just 13 homes. NYC Mayor Bloomberg is reportedly also a resident of Mallet Hill.
The property has a 4 bedroom, 6 bathroom, 7,000-square-foot main house with training grounds and space for 20 horses.
The Gates’ previously rented this home for $500,000 and have spent about $1.1 million renting homes in the area before making this purchase.
