"Before developers took over, we had great block parties. The area is walkable, lots of dogs, and I still know a few neighbors. Hoping to find a new home still in the area in our price range. "

"I have lived in this neighborhood for 20+ years. It has changed a lot but it has become a nicer, more convenient place to live. I love Ballard. "

"I moved here 20 years ago and after years of planning and planting have a thriving garden with all sorts of flowers, walkways, sitting areas..tho my view has been blocked over the years by people building new houses, the electric plant, the apts in downtown Ballard, and neighbors trees.,However, my commute to fast food, shopping for food, clothes, glasses, emergency medical care, gas, picking up postal packages, contemporary church, eateries and music rehearsal studios has been cut to no more than 4 blocks. I am paying for it in property taxes haven risen from $400 a year to $4000...but as a new senior, having services come to me, instead of the other way around, is blessing...there is a lot more traffic, but I don't have to fight it...just risk my life crossing Leary Way at 46th,...but guess with the new shopping center going in down the street, so will a stop light My fellow senior who have to live on limited income in their RV's down the street are good people and it's good to know they have a safe place to live. "We've rented our house in this neighborhood for almost four years now. This area of Ballard is sort of the sweet-spot when it comes to convenience: we're right on the bus line for multiple routes, less than a mile walk in any direction to get to an amazing restaurant, local shops, grocery, you name it. Our place specifically is situated -almost too closely- to 10 plus local breweries, more popping up everyday. We can walk our dog anytime of day or night and feel 100% safe. We absolutely love our neighborhood, but know the time will come when we have to move if we want to purchase anything. Rent and home prices both have skyrocketed throughout the Seattle area and Ballard residents especially have felt the pinch. We're know we're lucky to have found our place when we did or we'd end up getting pushed out with rising rent prices along with everyone else! "

"The Ballard neighborhood is pet-friendly, family-oriented, schools are great (Ballard High School, Adams Elemntary, St. Alphonsus School, Whitman Middle School, Loyal Heights Elementary School), Ballard Library, parks, Golden Gardens beach, Shilshole Bay, and downtown Ballard has a lot of stores, coffee shops, hospital, movie theater, library, etc. Great neighborhood."
