    "The upper west side, or Bloomingdale, where we live, is a lovely neighborhood full of parks, playgrounds and decent restaurants. We can easily walk to Columbia University and use their campus regularly. It is a true “neighborhood” feel, where you know the people in the different stores, speak to the doormen around the neighborhood and connect with neighbors in the park and the dog park. We love living here with young children! It is also convenient to subway and bus but also easy to take a citibike up or downtown on the riverside bike/running paths. "

    "The UWS has great access to the subway, you can get to midtown in 10 minutes and downtown in 20. Or hop in a taxi, Uber, Via or Lyft. Take an Xpress bus across town to the UES for more possibilities. No car necessary at all. And the walking is fantastic, with Central Park and Riverside Park right nearby. There’s no place else in the city I’d rather live. "

Upper West Side is a great part of New York for those who enjoy both indoor and outdoor activities. Finding things to do in this area is very easy. A lot of entertainment venues can be found nearby, there are often a very large number of people around, and it is very easy to find bars as they are well-spread throughout the neighborhood. Columbus Avenue in particular offers a broad selection of nightlife. This neighborhood also features a fair amount of greenery; it is very easy to reach parks in the neighborhood since there are about 20 of them nearby for residents to unwind in. Moreover, residents will find that there are numerous tree-lined streets.

What kinds of homes are available in Upper West Side?

Around two thirds of the population of this neighborhood rent their home and the remainder are owners. About 90% of dwellings are large apartment buildings, making it easy to find apartments in this neighborhood, and the rest of the homes are mainly small apartment buildings. Most of the housing growth in this area took place pre-1960. This neighborhood has a good selection of unit sizes, ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms.

It is a very short walk to reach both primary and secondary schools from anywhere in Upper West Side. Upper West Side does not necessitate use of a car since various other means of transportation are available. Many of the homes for sale in this part of New York are located in places that are especially conducive to walking; all daily needs can be met without the use of a vehicle, and numerous businesses are very nearby. Moving around by bicycle is also convenient in this area since the cycling network is well-developed, and there is generally a bike-share station nearby. Homeowners can rely on public transit to get around in Upper West Side. Rapid transit stations, including 79 St Station, 72 St Station and 103 St Station with access to the 1 | Broadway - 7 Avenue Local Line, 2 | 7 Avenue Express and 3 | 7 Avenue Express, are commonly nearby from the greater part of houses in the neighborhood. Property owners benefit from approximately 10 bus lines, and the closest bus stop is generally just around the corner. In contrast, cars are a fairly poor means of transportation in Upper West Side because almost none of the street infrastructure is appropriate for cars, and it is very hard to access a parking spot.
