"Lots of dog lovers in the area and walkers throughout the day! Almost all dogs are on a leash, and we pick up after the dog goes potty. Great neighborhood overall, and kid/pet friendly."

"Great place to live and raise a family! Close to 3 military bases and A graded schools. Also within 20 minutes of world class, gorgeous white sand beaches. Very low crime and great community."

"I've lived in Shalimar for 5 years. There are no sidewalks but it is safe. There are black bears that wander around at night. The sound of jets can be very loud."

"Dogs must be leashed. No dog parks within 5 miles. Wild Black Bears are very prevalent and you need to keep an eye out!"

" All dog owners walk their animal as their time allows. I am a single female and I walk my dog at night and in the morning. I run at night or in the morning and never have any problems. I feel safe and my animals are safe. "

"Not many kids. Schools are poor. Traffic is awful. Restaurants are very limited. No museums, art galleries, police are limited. Jobs unless federally employed are non existent."
