Although this area is not home to any green spaces, parks are very well-distributed in nearby neighborhoods, making it easy to get to them from the majority of locations within the neighborhood. This part of Jacksonville is quiet overall, as there are generally low levels of noise from traffic - however some areas can be quite noisy, especially close to Interstate 10 or State Highway 9A.

In Rolling Hills, about three quarters of buildings are single detached homes, and the remaining dwellings are mainly large apartment buildings. This area is primarily composed of four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes. About 60% of the dwellings in the neighborhood are occupied by homeowners and 40% are rented. This neighborhood experienced its largest construction boom between 1960 and 1980, so most of the available housing is from this era.
