On it's first day out, I saw, submitted an offer of 160K, 2K above comparable sales.

I was later asked to submit my best offer. I did, offered 7.5K more and pay pest inspection. I really wanted this house! My offer was denied (no explaination) and June 18 the house was taken off the market. The house was selling "as-is"! The house needed some paint and carpet cleaning, but that's dity work! I just would like to know, what happened? My agent called and sent emails to the seller to inquire what happend, no replies! The seller lead us to believe we were competing with other offer, but seems that was not the case. I heard some banks don't like VA loans, could that be the reason?

Thu, 18 Jun 2009 16:59:12 PDT

Who has successfully sold and financed a 203k streamlined home and loan? My husband's aunt is adamant that it is infested with gangs and has lots of crime. The homes look well tended and the neighborhoods are clean and safe looking. I think she may be overreacting, but we don't know the city well at all, so we need help from others who live there. How safe is the area ? I looked up crime statistics, but it is hard to gauge how pervasive it is by neighborhood. I saw an article about a policeman who was killed a few months ago - is that what she is basing her opinion on? Any information would be useful in our search for a home. We lowered the price $30,000. and I keep hearing about it being a seller's market with multiple offers. What gives?? I supposedly have one of the best agents in town, but they can't seem to explain why no one wants my home. I can't look for another home in my new town until we sell this house. We only owe about 6 years on a 10 year refinanced mortgage. We have lived here since 1990 and we feel we just can't lower the price any more. Why do people who paid their mortgage on time and live within their means have to suffer with morons who are upside down and bought sub-prime with no down payment loans they knew they could not handle and defaulted on?
