Im a single male with the carpenter skills to fix most anything, but my concern is these neighborhoods. They seem to be still somewhat affordable but they also seem to be on the virge of all out collapse. I work in mid town and I want something thats walking distance to the subway and commutable to the city and I can park my car without it getting stolen or vandalized. I really do NOT want a coop apartment with obnoxious neighbors, been there done that. It also seems that many of these bank owned properties are priced all over the place. Some that need way too much work to justify the price and others that are fairly priced but in a neighborhood that requires steel bars on all the windows and makes a home look like jail. Is anything in my range and in a decent neighborhood?

Mon, 29 Jun 2009 19:06:16 PDT

Decent Area in Queens NY? It is cheaper than renovated co-ops but my concern is how can I make sure I am not getting myself into more trouble than I asked for?

Here are some of my concerns, but I do not what resources to find out the information:
1. Can the real estate agent add any hidden fees in the contract?
2. Are there any websites to check if the building is financially secure or if there are any major problems with the co-op?
3. Would a real estate agent or lawyer help me find this information?

Mon, 4 May 2009 14:34:50 PDT
