The best option for your friend is to consider the following:
Will he have money to pay for a room or an apartment?
If so, what is his budget?
L.A. is very different from most places and the prices you pay may not necessarily get you more or less. The best thing to do is visit the area, if you havent already and view a couple of units with a few realtors to get an idea. Renting a room can be somewhat claustophobic and noisy in LA as most places that do that type of business generally have very low-standards on the types of folks they will rent to and the quality of the units may be a little less desirable than your own place.... more

I can give you averages but not specifics since I don't have an address and can't see the property. This is the Hollywood Hills area from your zip code. The range is from 3,200-10,0000. There is a huge range that relates to square footage, amenitites, location etc .

The home sizes & amenities vary; as well as, the closeness to the sign. We've rented 800sq. ft for $3000 & 5000Sq ft. for $10K.
