If you feel that a certain area is being neglected by the Rochester police there is city offices that can be a Liaison for you and the police department called NET Offices you can call 311 and they will put you in touch with your areas office.

I've been renting in the 19th Ward for about 4 1/2 years, saving money to purchase a home in the area. Parts of the neighborhood have gone down tremendously due to the economy, slum, out of site investors, property managers who don't maintain the properties, bad tenants, crime and violence (gangs), etc. If I didn't keep up the property I'm renting, or stay on the property management company's case, I would be SOOL. This Spring alone has me second guessing about purchasing a home in the 19th Ward. I've seen an increase in rowdiness, gangs, people cutting through backyards, etc. I'm blessed to have a cirlcle of nosy neighbors (home owners..some retired) who are always looking out. We've got eachother's backs day and night. If the 19th Ward doesn't do a swift turn around, the rest of it's beauty and peace will be destroyed. Consult an attorney of course, but ive dealt with similar situations and tons of evictions and I can tell you right now from experience you will need to go through an eviction process to remove anyone who lives in the house even if they arent on a formal lease, unless you can just ask them to leave and return any deposit but legally if they dont want to leave thats what you will need to do. The only good answers are the ones you find out for your self. Most agents web sites offer statistics on crime and more by zip code. Working with a realestate professions will help. Talk with people that live there. If you don't know anyone visit the local stores ask questons there.... more
