If your credit is bad you will not qualify for any mortgage. Rent something out (if anyone would rent to people with bad credit) while working on getting your credit improved. Your local non profit housing group will give credit counseling. They will go over your credit report and tell you what you are doing wrong and what you should be doing. It depends on the company...but you usually can stay till it is taken over by the bank and if a real estate co. is processing it for them they will mediate you moving and sometimes they will pay you to move called Cash for Keys.If no one contacts you w/ a court order to appear then I would wait till they do.
