I actually lived in Lakewood for a short stint and if I recall it was in the 60's. Mainly because of governance issues. They do however fall under the Long Beach Unified School District and have quite an extensive busing program.
Back in the day - Lakewood was extremely exclusive, and although it has retained a high Situs; it is quickly losing ground in the "exclusivity" department. The High School is really lacking in lustre as well.... more
