Older usually means that future maintenance will be higher, but there are other factors to consider. Newer houses tend to be low maintenance, yet sometimes they are built poorly and cheaply.
The price of an older home might or might not be a better value. it all depends on the comparables for each.... more
That sold in November of last year. Trulia is a poor site to search for property because it has outdated and inaccurate information. If you are serious about buying try realtor.com or my web site where you will see more 'real time' data.... more
Hi. The property was last on the market September 2008. Its Corporate owned. It was priced at $139,900.00. This property may be available for purchase but the city will still have to issue a certificate of occupancy due to its present condition. My guess is... this will be ( or already ..) in the auction block. To find out more information about this property, call the Chicago Title Land Trust. I've provided a link for you below. Hope this helps.

The Cook County Treasurer's website has the latest information and it is public access. To search go to the Cook County Assessor website and search the address to get the pin number. With the pin number go to the Cook County Treasurer's website and search the payment status with the pin number. The latest information from my search shows an individual bought it in 2007 for $131,000 at the time is was a bank foreclosure. Latest information on the Cook County website shows It is mortgaged through Harris Bank. If you think this may have changed recently you may want to go to the Cook County Assessor's office and see if it is different. I do not show it on the MLS as an active listing. It has been my experience that banks will not give out information on the status of a mortgage or property unless you are the mortgagee. If you are interested in this property you may want to have a realtor set you up with as search of similar homes. If it does come on the market in the near future you will receive an email with this information.... more
