The nearest middle school is directly across the street from the home (Otto Middle school (its Plano / Richardson ) My daughter attended that school and i would say its was the very best in curriculum and after school activities and yes she walk everyday.

I see you have question about Butler High School. I am not sure what information you are looking for in regards to the High School. I can tell you as a Realtor we are not allowed to conject our opinion and steer you away or toward one area because of schools.
What I can tell you is I live in the Butler High School district and have currently two children attending the school. One is a senior and graduating this year and the other one is a sophomore. Both of my children love the school and the are actively involved in different aspects of the school from clubs to sports. They feel that the school offered them a variety of options. But I imagine all the Charlotte area schools do as well. This school though is larger than I anticipated when I went to it. I would say the school has around 2000 students and every student gets something different out of the school. Some good and some bad.
My oldest is academically geared and has taken advantage of the AP courses offered where as my son is more down the middle of the road student who has ventured out with ROTC and other activities. As a whole the school does rank well. We recently received an e-mail stating we were one of the top High Schools in the state from Us News and World Report rankings of High Schools.
But I think a good gauge fo the school and a barometer you can use to evaluate the academic success of the school versus others in the district and state is www.ncreportcard.org. This site will give you demographics of the school as well as how the school performs on end of the year tests and trends over the last three years. Last it also gives you how the school does in comparison to other schools in the district sand state.
