I echo Steve's comments about the Klein school district. It's one of the area's most desirable school districts and covers a large area of the NW Houston suburb of Spring. You can learn all about the district and it's Campuses at: http://www.kleinisd.net/
The main freeways your husband would likely use from Spring to IAH would be I-45, The Hardy Tollway or Beltway 8. The Grand Parkway NW >> NE sections are not complete yet but when it is open it will provide additional access to IAH and more neighborhood options for your family.
For now, based on your criteria, I suggest you search Trulia or HAR.com for these NW Houston neighborhoods, all of which are near the freeways mentioned above, and all are zoned to the Klein Independent School District:
1) Cypresswood Glen
2) Normandy Forest
4) Spring Creek Lakes
I am partial to Normandy Forest because it's a small, friendly neighborhood within walking distance to an elementary, intermediate and high school. I have family in that community and they love it

That is a great question. Sorry I am just now seeing it. I have seen the highs and the low's in Alden Bridge over the years. I would say your in the $90-$100 a square prince range. If you are considering selling in the near future I would suggest a minimal amount of upgrades if your pocket book allows it. Many of my clients are looking for move-in ready homes with all the bells and whistles and are willing to pay a premium amount for them. You may lose good quality buyers if you don't have the minimum standards they are looking for.

ExxonMobil employees are most likely send their children to Woodlands schools then to Spring schools, there is a reason for that. With Exxon Mobil campus right on the border of Spring/Woodlands, we see a lot of Exxon employees already looking for properties, one of their requirements : Woodlands schools.... more
Spring is definitely suburbia! Itâ€™s right outside of Houston on your way to Conroe, The Woodlands, and other smaller townships/cities.
I agree heavily wooded (mostly pine and oak). The Spring area varies significantly so I would pick were I lived by neighborhood. Some neighborhoods will have great home owners associations some will have a bad ones or none at all. But again each neighborhood is usually pretty separated from its surroundings. I would recommend sticking to the ones that have good home owners associations. They are nicer and are holding their value better as you would expect. There are many unique developments and your pick of homes at a good value.
