My office and our team is scouring the "Inner Mission" area of San Francisco for houses, and while we come across some "exceptional" deals, they have been tempered by the pent up demand of the folks who work in some of the tech companies in the surrounding areas. This has also affected the rents, which are now so high that people are opting to move elsewhere, or get "roommates" to help defray the costs. Once the sun goes down, the creepers come out. If you are a girl walking alone, be on guard. The homeless prefer scamming on young women than anything else. But this can often come with them trying to grab you or talking your ear off. Closer to the over pass, bathrooms become street corners and large walls become prone to the ugly kind of graffiti.... more
Harrison & 5th Street is walking distance from Downtown San Francisco, the main action of everything and anything. Rent is cheapest down 5th Street. Also, roommates are very easy to find - this is a popular place to live! The shopping is great, and there are always people around with interesting stories.... more
I've lived in SF for over 8 years 5 of that all over the mission and I used to work at 5th and mission. While 7th and Howard is better than 7th and Mission, it's still a little rock and roll around there. If you can handle it, great. But what I would consider is if you have to rent the place any time soon...it might be hard to compete with other neighbs in SF until 7th comes up...
