Schaumburg is basically the commercial center for the Northwest Suburbs. The Woodfield mall draws customers from 15 miles away given its size and shopping selection. Lots of corporate and commercial job opportunities, depending on what you are looking for.
The town has more of a "city" feel vs a "town" feel that many of the other NW suburbs enjoy. If you prefer city, Schaumburg is great. If you want something a little smaller, but the ability to get to all amenities quickly, the towns nearby will appeal to you.
