Anna is correct, the best place to go with a question like this is the local police. You can also search online for crime statistics if you are concerned. I will say I lived in Norristown for about 7 years and just moved a few months back. My decision was not at all based on anything to do with crime statistics.... more
Absolutely. I would suggest contacting the office where your agent works and ask to speak to the Broker in Charge. I would tell them you're unhappy and why and inform them you want to terminate your buyer broker agreement immediately and that you want them (the Broker in Charge to send you an email indicating that your agreeement is terminated or alternately I would take the first page of your agreement, write "Terminated" and the date on it, and take it in to their office and have iether your agent or the Broker in Charge sign it.
There's no reason in the world to work with someone you're not happy with. I've attached a link below to one of my more popular blog posting here on Trulia on how to find a great broker.

I would concur with all the comments my colleagues below have made. Never too early to choose someone you are comfortable with, whom you trust and who knows the locations you want to buy in very well. I have a hand out about questions to ask a buyer representative when you are interviewing them. If you would like me to email it to you, please let me know your email address (it's a pdf file so I can't give you a link here.) -- Christine W. Norristown sometimes can get a bad rap. I know of numerous areas that are quite nice and where alot of homes are owned by investors who rent their properties out. They are trying to improve Norristown but it is a long enduring process. You will more then likely have a fair return on your investment is you buy smart. Avoid the less desirable areas and homes that need a total rehab (unless you can get it for DIRT cheap). I would highly recommend investment properties in both Norristown and Pottstown.... more
